Southeast starts their own streak against West Lauderdale

The Tigers of Southeast last week made it two in a row against a cross county rival who had dominated them in the past and this week the Tigers were looking to continue their streak against county rivals.   The Tigers traveled to the Kingdom in Collinsville, MS to take on the Knights of West Lauderdale.  This game always sparks up interest in our household as I graduated from West and my wife from Southeast.

The Tigers started off this game with another 14-0 lead as they have done in the past 3 games.  This week though it took a little longer to get that lead.  It looked like it was going to be a blowout with SE taking a 21-0 lead, but the Knights fought back and made it sort of interesting in the second half, but just could not catch up to the Tigers with the final score being Tigers 38 – Knights 18.

Northeast Trojans take on the Tigers of Southeast

Last Friday night, the Trojans of Northeast Lauderdale traveled to Vimville, MS looking for revenge.  Last year the Southeast Tigers broke the Trojans 10 year winning streak, and Northeast was ready to start a new streak.  Southeast of course was looking to start a streak of their own and make it two in a row.

It was a great night for football and the Tigers just like last week jumped on their opponent early taking a 14-0 lead within the first few minutes of the game.  NE fumbled the opening kick-off and Southeast’s LaKelvin Newell picked it up and ran it in for the touchdown.   Then the very next possesion for the Tigers Clark had a long run and made it 14-0 before the crowd could get settled.

HS Football week 2

Well here it is a week later but I finally got some images ready from week 2 of High School football.  Last Friday we made the trip to Decatur, MS to catch the Southeast Tigers take on the Newton County Cougars.  We were looking for a great game between these teams.   SE jumped on the Cougars early and took a 14-0 lead.  But the home-standing Cougars fought back and it was a close game during the 1st half.

The game was full of turnovers I believe the number of fumbles reached double digits between the two teams.  So while not a well executed game, and what ended out not being a very close game we still enjoyed the night.  Final score SE 28 and Newton Co – 7

HS Football – R U Ready?

While I love all sports, football is my favorite and am excited to see the start of the 2011 season.  The season kicked off with a Thursday night game, where the Clarkdale Bulldogs made the short trip to county rival Southeast Tigers.   Unfortunately for the Bulldogs the Tigers were not very gracious hosts and sent the Dogs home with a 34-0 lost.

Then Friday Night the West Lauderdale Knights hosted 2010 3A state champions Forest Bearcats.   The Knights looking to rebound from last year started off with a blaze of glory and took the opening kick off and scored a touch down.  But the Bearcats proved to tough and took a 45-14 win back home to Forest.
